APC SOUTH EAST PROFESSIONALS ALLIANCE WARNS IJEOMA ARODIOGBU AGAINST UNDERMINING PRESIDENT TINUBU, APC NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
The APC South East Professionals Alliance has issued a stern warning to Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the National Vice Chairman (South East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging him to immediately cease actions that are undermining and destroying the party's unity and prospects in the South East zone.
In a Press release made available to newsmen in Abuja by Dr. Kingsley Umeh for the group's leadership, the group accused Dr. Arodiogbu of actively maneuvering to transfer the South East's National Ex-Officio Member position in the National Executive Committee (NEC) from Anambra State to his home state of Imo State.
This move, according to the professionals, directly contravenes the party's established micro-zoning arrangement for NEC positions within the South East geopolitical zone, which has historically allocated specific slots to ensure fair representation across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
The group described the purported action as "self-serving and divisive," warning that it risks alienating key stakeholders, particularly from Anambra State, at a critical time when the APC is intensifying efforts to expand its foothold in the region ahead of future elections and the 2026 National Convention. They emphasized that the existing zoning formula reaffirmed by the national leadership for the upcoming convention must be respected to preserve internal harmony and collective strength.
"Dr. Arodiogbu, as a key zonal leader, should be championing unity and equitable distribution of opportunities, not engaging in maneuvers that fracture the party," the statement read in part. "We call on him to desist from this destructive path that could weaken APC's Renewed Hope agenda in the South East and jeopardize our shared goal of stronger representation at the national level, including continued support for President Bola Tinubu."
The professionals further appealed to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma and other senior party figures to intervene urgently and enforce adherence to the agreed zoning principles. They stressed that any unilateral changes could lead to factionalism, reduced mobilization efforts, and setbacks in the party's push to capture more states in the zone, such as Anambra.
As the APC continues zonal stakeholder meetings and mobilization drives projecting cohesion and alignment with the federal government, observers are watching closely for any escalation of these tensions.
The professionals' Alliance urged Arodiogbu to prioritize adhere to the party's zoning arrangement to avert a deeper crisis that could hinder the South East APC's progress. Further statements or interventions from national leadership are anticipated as the situation unfolds.
