Sign N30,000 minimum wage bill before May Day or face strike – Workers warn Buhari

Oyo State chapter of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has condemned the delay in the signing of the N30,000 minimum wage into law by President Muhammad Buhari.

Comrade Babatunde Balogun, Chairman ASCSN Oyo State Chapter said in a statement made available to VAM News“ Industrial peace and harmony may not be assured to the President in the country if the passed minimum wage bill is not signed into law by the President before May-Day celebration on 1st of May, 2019’’.

He said" Nigerian workers have gone through harsh economic and financial situation since the inception of the Buhari led government and if the government failed to assent before the 1st of May, 2019, we won’t be able to assure the government industrial peace in the country. 

According to him, “This is high act of wickedness and is unacceptable to us’’.

The National Assembly had earlier this year passed N30,000 minimum wage bill and the bill is now awaiting the president's seal for approval and implementation.
