Nigeria: Another Civil War? Riches, Running can't Save us, Osinbajo tells APC Chieftains

Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's vice president, has said that the money of the wealthy cannot save them at a time when the nation is struggling with the scourge of insecurity.

The vice president made these remarks during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in Abuja on Tuesday, April 27.

Osinbajo, however, pointed out that no matter how bad things are currently, the country cannot afford another civil war, Daily Times also reported.

He stated: “Everyone who thinks he has some monies stored up somewhere will eventually run out of money. Everyone who thinks he can go and hide somewhere, won`t even find a place to hide, in the end, everyone will suffer.

“Even if you don’t suffer, parents, children, young and old people, and relations will suffer. We cannot afford another civil war in this country, we can't afford it."

He noted that the inability of the elite politicians to speak the truth against disunity in the country is responsible for the present failure, adding that silence can lead to more dangerous situations.

Meanwhile, the increasing and unthinkable attacks by bandits in Nigeria, especially in the north, had forced Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue to make some pronouncements about the state of the nation.
