Armed robbers invade bank, killed one in Yenegoa












There was confusion as a three man armed robbery gang forced their way into a new generation bank along Sani Abacha, way Yenagoa, capital city of Bayelsa State shooting dead a bank customer.















Eye-witness said that the bank customer whose identity was given as Emmanuel Omomo aka Ibori from Delta State was believed to have withdrawn a huge sum of money and had already entered a commercial tricycle also known as keke nepep when the robbers attacked.













The eye witness said as soon as the deceased saw a masked man dressed in black come down from his car that pulled beside the tricycle, he tried to run away through a narrow bush path behind the bank but the gunman shot him twice and collected his bag.












“On sighting the gunman, the victim ran out of the Keke and moved towards the bush path behind the bank entrance where he was shot on the stomach, and he fell. The gunman then shot him again on his abdomen before collecting the bag suspected to contain some amount of money, and zoomed off towards the popular Julius Berger roundabout in the waiting “Camry” the eye-witness said.












It was gathered that attempts made by Policemen attached to the bank, and neighbourings bank to thwart the fleeing gunmen proved abortive as they zoomed off in high speed.













The deceased was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yenagoa but he couldn’t make it as he had lost a lot of blood.


The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Asinim Butswat who confirmed the incident said the Police have launched a full man hunt to catch the fleeing gunmen.
