COVID19: WAIVE UNDERGRADUATES TUITION FEES, YAPJEN TO FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT.
Following the lockdown of business across the nation occasioned by the COVID19 pandemic. The Youth Advocates For Peace Justice And Empowerment Network (YAPJEN) has called on the Federal and State Government to waive the 2020 academic session tuition fees of undergraduates in all tertiary institutions across the country.
Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, The National President of YAPJEN made the call through an online Press Release in Awka, Anambra State.
YAPJEN advocated for the waiver of tuition fees due to the lockdown and closure of businesses across the Nation which has adversely affected the earning power of families as well as students who are self sponsoring their education.
The group opined that since there is a total Lockdown in most states, most parents and guardians of poor and average students would find it difficult to provide for the daily needs of their families and the additional burden of tuition fees.
YAPJEN wondered that most salary earners are yet to receive their salaries, the financial palliatives of bothe the Federal and state government is so minute to cushion the effect of the COVID19 lockdown on families, hence, it has become imperative for the Federal and State Government to review and waive the tuition of the undergraduates as the global pandemic is taking toll on not only the finances of individuals, families but the economy generally.
YAPJEN further called on the Nigerian students to make their voice heard using all the electronic arsenals within their reach and draw the attention of the federal and State Government on the need to waive the tuition fees.
