ST. Joseph's Clinches LOGBOSERE football Cup

St. Joseph's Catholic Grammar School, Idanre has this evening defeated Olofin Anglican Grammar School, Idanre to win the cup of the Logbosere Memorial Football Competition, VAM reports.

      

The final match which was played on Olofin Anglican Grammar School playground was tension soaked despite the rain that was drenching the players who seemed to be matched until 15minutes after the kickoff at 3.30pm when St. Joseph's Catholic Grammar School, Idanre found the Olofin goalkeeper napping. A sleep that cost Olofin Anglican Grammar School, Idanre the cup this year as frantic efforts to equalize met stoic defence of the eventual winner whose goalkeeper's superlative performances deserve praise. 

    

The representative of the  late High Chief Olagundoye Olurankinse, Logbosere of Idanre Kingdom who passed away some four years ago and in whose memory  Mr. Jide Olurankinse, based in America and his other children and family sponsored the competition,  Mrs Daso Doris, thanked the organisers for their efforts and lauded the children of the late High Chief Olurankinse who was said to be a great football enthusiast while alive. She thanked God that some of the goals of the competition were being realized as the annual football competition has discovered some football talents who now play for clubs in and around the state. She revealed that the sponsors had decided to include Literary and Debating Competition in the programme where the best three schools will win prizes. 

     

The Organizing Committee comprising of Mr. Akinseoye Yomi, Mr. Akinlolu Abonso, Ozogula and Mr. Afolabi Ogunyanmodi who spoke on behalf of the Organizers thanked all present and most especially His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, Arubiefin IV (JP) OFR, Owa of Idanre and Paramount Ruler of Idanre Kingdom for sending his Personal Secretary and Media Officer, Mr. Agbelusi Ganiyu to represent him at the final football match of the Logbosere Memorial Football Competition where highly graded Referee, Mr. Jiire Akinsanmi blew the whistle that saw St. Joseph's Catholic Grammar School carrying the Cup while Olofin took the Silvery second place cup and Methodist High School, also of Idanre went home with their third place cup and cash prizes in addition to their individual medals...Agbelusi Ganiyu reporting for Idanre Media Service @021019
