Commercial motorcyclists, usually called "Okada" on strike in Ondo

Commercial motorcyclists, usually called "Okada" in Idanre Kingdom of Ondo State are presently demonstrating round the Odode Idanre township and refusing to pick potential customers.

In a reports gathered by VAM News from Mr Agbelusi Ganiyu, they claimed that they were protesting the unnecessary and unapproved levy of #300.00 each imposed on them by their leaders in Idanre Local Government. 

Speaking with Agbelusi Ganiyu, their spokesman, Sunday Akinmola, said that they decided to carry their protest to His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, Arubiefin IV, (JP) OFR, Owa of Idanre Kingdom and Paramount Ruler of Idanre Kingdom in order to avoid breakdown of law and order in the peaceful community. 

According to him, they don't have much patronage in Idanre now and besides that, they obtain, compulsorily,  #150.00 ticket everyday, Sundays inclusive. 

Meanwhile, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Aroloye has promised to look into their grievances and advised them not to take laws into their own hands and praised them for the matured manners they have made their feelings known without resorting to violence. 

VAM News reports update, As at the time of filing in this report, efforts to see the Chairman of the Motorcyclists (Acomoran) association proved abortive.
