A brief history of malam Aminu Kano of blessed memory.

Mal Aminu Kano, a great leader, revolutionary political thinker and Islamic and social activist, he was born in Kano to an Islamic education family by 1925. Kano started his education at home where he gain qualitative Islamic education from his parents and his teacher Malam Halilu of blessed memory. He attended Shahuci primary school where he combined Islamic education and western education under the mentorship of his second teacher, Malam Halilu up to his middle school.

His political struggle started as a class teacher at Bauchi middle school where he met Mal Abubakar Tafawa Balewa as head Master and Sa'idu Zungur, a prominent hausa poet as a teacher too. Kano advocated for introduction of modern and technical subjects in addition to the "reading and writing" subjects. Kano's ideology and optimism led to his transfer to Sokoto middle school where he also raised some inspirational minds and improved the educational system.

His prominent political slogan is "emancipation of talakawa" or "Sawaba declaration". The slogan is to free the masses from shackles of feudal traditional rulers who are the agents of colonial masters. Maltreatment, improper and bad leadership, high taxation, nepotism, extra judicial acts among others.

Malam Aminu started the movement to educate the masses and provide a conducive atmosphere where things will be better by brainwashing the Talakawas of the jurisdiction and rule of law and also the role and boundary of traditional rulers. 

Being pro colonial, the colonial and traditional ruling institutions hated Malam Aminu Kano and course him his job as a teacher and many domestic injuries to his supporters. That's where opposition and counter opposition between Malam Aminu Kano and northern elites, traditional rulers and colonial masters. Thinking he'll abandon the activism, Malam was taken to study in Europe and reverse is the case, malam learned more ideas to build and rebuild his political ideology.

In the last decade of colonial domination, when political parties became agents of hope for self rule, Malam Aminu Kano breakaway from the Northern People's Congress of Sir Ahmadu Bello  Sarduana to Northern Elements Progressive Union with which he shared his Gospel.

But Nevertheless, N.P.C is strong beyond expectations, as such, they dominated almost everything Kano initiated and won severally against his party.

NEPU not like N.P.C became an ideology rather than a mere political party and the ideology reached almost every part of North and beyond.

After independence, Malam Aminu Kano served many seats among which are minister at various ministries, national committees and contested for presidency but fail. The known election to national assembly that Kano lost to Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule remained an important point to N.P.C supporters.

Finally, N.E.P.U ideology is still in existence giving people rights to be free from neocolonialism and maltreatment of extra judicial institutions.
