Ondo APC Primaries: Governor Akeredolu’s candidates, 3 Reps, 12 House of Assembly members lose out

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has lost out in selection of candidates for the Senate and the House of Representatives released by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the weekend received by Voice Air Media reporter. APC parallel executives in the state had submitted separate list to the NWC for consideration as candidates for the Senate and the House Representatives for next year’s election.

While Akeredolu-led APC submitted Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa and Chief Donald Omotayo Alasoadura as senatorial candidates for the Senate, the parallel executive submitted names of Prof Robert Ajayi Boroffice, Yele Omogunwa and Sen. Tayo Alasoadura as its candidates.
The two executives also submitted parallel lists as candidates for the House of Representatives for the 2019 elections. However, the NWC wielded the big stick by jettisoning the senatorial list submitted by the governor’s camp and gave the sitting senators automatic tickets. Besides, APC national leadership endorsed candidates on the state chapter for the House of Representatives’ seats.
However, those who got the House of Representatives seats in defiance to the governor’s list included Mayowa Akinfolarin of Odigbo/Ileoluji-Okeigbo Federal constituency and Ola Baderinwa of Idanre/ Ifedore Federal Constituency.

According to a document containing the candidates list, those who did not get the party’s ticket to recontest are those representing two Federal constituencies in Akoko, Stephen Olemija, Babatunde Kolawole, and Akure North/ South, Afe Olowookere.
Also foisted on the governor were Mr. Ade Adeogun (Akoko South West/south East); Hon Akintoye Albert (Irele/
Okitipupa and Bunmi Tuni-Ojo (Akoko North West/ North East).
