Late Justice Azuka who before his gruesome murder was the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. The law maker's body was found by the roadside of the second Niger Bridge. Azuka's lifeless body said to be already decomposing  was found by a joint team of security operatives in the early hours of Thursday, the 6th of February, 2025. This is coming 44 days after he was kidnapped  on December 24, 2024 along the Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas.

In a Press Statement by the group's Director of Communication, Comrade Benedict Chidobem, Esq lamented the gruesome murder of the law maker stating that this is not the first time this unfortunate incident is happening in Anambra State. In his words ” this is the second time a serving law maker will be abducted and killed in Anambra State in less than 3 years.

On the 21st of May, 2022, shortly after Professor  Charles  Chukwuma  Soludo the Executive Governor of the State was sworn in, gunmen abducted the lawmaker representing  Aguata 2 constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Okechukwu  Okoye , Okoye was reported later to have been killed and beheaded alongside his aide, Cyril  Chiegboka, 6 days after they were kidnapped along Aguluzigbo Road, Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, and their heads and bodies dumped along the roas.”

Furthermore, he lamented that on several occasions, Ndi Anambra have been abducted and killed even after paying ransom demanded by their abductors.

The group called on the police to conduct thorough investigation to  unravel and arrest the perpetuators of this heinous act, and ensure that no stone is left unturned in bringing these heartless kidnappers to  justice.

The Group also called on the State Government to take proactive steps to ensure an end to the heinous  crimes committed in the State.

We commiserate with the bereaved family and pray for God to give them the strength to bear this great loss.
