Greenfield: Sheikh Gumi Opens up on when Abducted Students will be Released

A report by The Nation indicates that Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric has revealed that very soon the remaining 16 kidnapped Greenfield university students would be released.

Gumi made this known to newsmen after receiving parents of freed students of Federal College of Forestry, Afaka who paid him a ‘thank you visit’. While assuring that negotiations were ongoing with the bandits, the cleric confirmed that they did not carry out their threat to kill the students because.

The cleric went on to note that though the ransom of N100 million has not yet been paid, the bandits, however, reduced their initial demand.

Meanwhile, VAM News reported that Gumi, on Tuesday, May 4 urged the Central Bank of Nigeria to pay the N100million ransom being demanded by the kidnappers of Greenfield University students in Kaduna state.

Gumi who has been at the forefront of championing amnesty for the terrorists said the federal government must not take the threat by the kidnappers lightly. Gumi was reacting to the comments of a parent of one of the abductees who lamented that the kidnappers were insisting on a ransom of N100million before their wards are safely released to them.
