EFCC Arrests Bitcoin Trader in Ibadan Over Alleged Fraud


... Gives Reason for Action 





A bitcoin trader has been arrested by the Ibadan Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged involvement in cyber-crime. 


The EFCC has urged Nigerians to refrain from fraudulent activities. 


The anti-graft agency in a statement disclosed that the suspect, Ayomide Adebowale, was arrested on Friday, April 23, alongside four others from two locations at Elebu area in Ibadan, Oyo State. 



The spokesperson of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said the other suspects are Philip Gabriel, Mayowa Jolaoso Segun, Babatunde Segun Adeyinka and Abiodun Tolulope Emmanuel. 


He stated that their ages range between 21 and 37. 


The agency said: “They were picked sequel to series of intelligence received by the Commission on their alleged involvement in internet-related crimes. 


 â€œItems recovered from them include two cars, laptops, phones and some documents suspected to contain false pretences.


 â€œThey will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.''
