Tension as Cristiano Ronaldo faces huge punishment from FIFA because of his action

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the verge of being sanctioned by world's football governing body because of his reaction in his Portugal's tie against Serbia.

With the scoreline 2-2, Cristiano Ronaldo thought he had scored the winner for Portugal at the death, but his goal was ruled out as offside which made the Juventus star livid.

Cristiano Ronaldo was so upset with the decision of the referee and even screamed at the assistant before throwing his captain's armband to the floor and storming off the pitch.

According to the report on UK Sun, FIFA who are in charge of global football could see Cristiano Ronaldo's action as offensive which would attract penalty going by what Article 11 says below.

"Offensive conduct or violation of the principles of fair play" before going into more detail about what that entails.

"Associations and clubs, as well as their players, officials or any other member or person performing a function on their behalf, must comply with the Laws of the Game, the FIFA Statutes and the regulations, directives, guidelines, circulars and the decisions of FIFA; likewise, they must comply with the principles of fair play, loyalty and integrity."

Earlier, VAM News had reported how Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to his outburst during Portugal's 2-2 draw against Serbia in the World Cup qualifier earlier this weekend.

The 36-year-old scored a clear goal which could have handed his country the victory at the end of the added time but the effort was ruled out in a painful moment.

Definitely, the ball had crossed the line before Serbia captain Stefan Mitrovic cleared it off and Ronaldo tried making a case for himself but the linesman will not listen to him.

The incident got the Juventus star very angry that he slammed his country's armband on the floor while storming off the pitch straight into the dressing room.

And after regaining his cool, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner described the situation as an 'attack' on the entire Portugal population but insisted they will forge ahead.
