Capture them: Governor Umahi orders arrest of council boss, lawmaker

Following the killing of some innocent people, Governor David Umahi has ordered the immediate arrest of some officeholders.

Those to be arrested include the chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, Clement Odah and the member representing Ohaukwu North constituency, Chinedu Awo.

The Ebonyi state governor gave this order following the alleged killing of innocent citizens at Effium community. Going further, political holders who are from the area but who refused to participate in a meeting convened to find a solution to the crises were suspended.

Also, he ordered security outfit to arrest spokespersons of the Ezza and Effiunite tribes until peace returns to the area.

He said: “Anybody who is not a security person that is found with a gun must be demobilized by all means. Those that are calling for war, I will root them out. “It is on a note that leaders from both sides are the ones instigating the killings, crises and burning of houses.

“All political appointees that are absent in this security meeting are hereby suspended from office including the retired permanent secretary.

In what will annoy many people from southeast, Umahi declared that the people benefitted from Buhari's government than from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was disclosed through the commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji.

He argued that the Igbo have had a fair-play under Buhari’s administration in terms of economic and infrastructure development.
