NANS berates VC, Police Over Harassment of UNIABUJA Protesters
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the attack on protesting Students of University of Abuja by men of the Nigerian Police Force, acting on the instructions of the school's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah.
It was reported that the students embarked on the protest to express their displeasure at the University's management policy on late registration fees.

"The attention of NANS revolutionary secretariat have been drawn to the unprecedented humiliation, harrasement and brutality of our teeming students of University of Abuja, who protested ealier today to expressed their rejection and dissatisfaction with the university management's policy of late registration fee by officers of Nigeria Police force under the instruction and invitation of the Vice-Chancellor Prof Prof Abdul- Rasheed Na'Allah.
"This is least expected of a considerate management of any educational institution, be it primary or secondary talk less of a tertiary institution to introduce any increase or special fee to payable fees of students at this trying time in our dear nation and the world, when economy is in downturn as a result of Covid19 pandemic.
"I assure Students of my unwavering support and solidarity on this course, it is statutory to fight inhumanity of man againt man as clearly demonstrated by the University of Abuja management with such ill-timed and extortive policy. I call on Nigerian Police to stop being a tool of operession in the hand of imperialist oppressors whose majority of them are beneficiaries of free and qualitative education in the same Nigeria to silence the legitimate agitation of students peacefully protesting as quarratee by constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"While I call on students of University of Abuja to remain calm, I also call on Nigerian Police to stay clear of humiliating and brutalising peaceful protesting Nigeria students forthwith, The NANS Revolutionary secretariat shall be temporarily relocated to University of Abuja should the management fails to reverse her late registration fee policy among other exorbitant charges newly introduced within the next 24 hours".
