JUST IN: 9 young boys, several others killed as Boko Haram attacks Maiduguri with rocket
At least, 13 people were reportedly killed on Tuesday, February 23, when suspected Boko Haram members attacked Maiduguri, Borno state in what appeared to be a rocket strike.
VAM News gathers that there is a possibility of the state recording more casualties from the attack as humanitarian workers are currently at the spot of the incident, combing the town for corpses.
Over 40 people have been taken to hospital after sustaining several injuries from the attack, The Punch reports.
It was gathered that the major casualties were recorded at a football field in Gwange near the house of late General Mamman Shuwa where nine boys were killed.
The Adam Kolo part of Maiduguri was not spared as the insurgents fired the rocket which led to the death of four persons.
Meanwhile, a team of military, civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) have condoned the affected area in order to prevent another attack and protect the humanitarian workers at the scene.
