Ex-Super Eagles star, Yisa Sofoluwe is dead

 



Former Super Eagles star, Yisa Sofoluwe who played regularly for the team between 1983 and 1988 is dead.


Sofoluwe is popularly referred to as the dean of defence played at the 1984 and 1988 African Nations Cups before passing away yesterday night after a battle with a brain ailment.


Ex-footballer Waidi Akanni who has been taking care of the deceased alongside another former footballer, Jide Oguntuase broke the news of Sofoluwe’s death late last night.


According to reports he died on Tuesday at the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after he was diagnosed with mild cerebral atrophy, a brain disease.


Born on 28 December, 1967, Shofoluwe won 40 caps and scored one goal for the Super Eagles.
