After Edo prince's death, another US-based Nigerian slips from kidnappers’ den

A United States-based Nigerian, identified as Chinweizu, has reportedly escaped from kidnappers’ den after beating one of his captors to a pulp.

The Punch reports that the man was said to have been abducted on the Akara Isuikwuato Road in Abia state alongside an unidentified woman.

It was gathered that the kidnappers seized the duo around 3pm on Wednesday, February 3, and took them into the forest.

VAM News gathers that a source close to Chinweizu, who spoke in confidence, said he attacked one of the kidnappers when he turned his back on him.

After his escape, Chineweizu reported the matter to the Army, leading to their eventual arrest after the victim identified them at the hospital where they took their injured colleague.

Police react

The Abia police command has also confirmed the incident.

According to the command's spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna, the suspected kidnappers seized Chinweizu and a woman after they had shot a 63-year-old man dead.

Ogbonna said the ugly incident was reported by one Mrs Cecelia Azu of Ebouwnana Afikpo in Ebonyi state.

Afikpo said while they were travelling from Umuahia around 3pm when the hoodlums shot her husband dead while trying to kidnap him.

Police arrest Abuda's kidnappers

Meanwhile, the Edo state police command has disclosed that it has finally arrested some suspects connected to the kidnapping and killing of Abuda.

Dennis was killed despite the that his family paid N10 million ransom to his abductors.

The police spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the hoodlums were arrested by operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cybercrimes unit in collaboration with vigilantes and hunters.
