The federal government has warned that it would shut down the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the states that fail to comply with all COVID-19 protocols.

According to the reports, the minister of youths and sports development, Sunday Dare, gave the warning during the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, on Monday, January 25.

VAM News gathered that the NYSC would not allow youths to be endangered, adding that those already deployed to any state affected would be redeployed to other places.

Uncertainty as COVID-19 hits NYSC camp

About 731 members of Batch B corps members had tested positive for COVID-19.

He said:

“It has become necessary that all safety protocols be adhered to, any orientation camp that is not obeying the protocol will simply be closed as the NYSC cannot afford to risk the lives and health of the corps members."

It was noted that 765 members of the current stream of corps members out of the over 22,000 cases tested were confirmed positive.
