US university appoints Ganduje, despite "dollar" scandal as professor

Says he's a source of motivation

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has been appointed a visiting professor of e-governance and international affairs at the East Carolina University.

The appointment was contained in a letter to the governor signed by Professor Victor Mbarik dated Monday, November 30, The Nation reports.

According to the governor's chief press secretary Abba Anwar who broke the news in a statement on Tuesday, December 1, the university appointed Ganduje a visiting professor because he is a "source of motivation to Nigerian youths, both at home and in the diaspora."

The Kano state governor, born in Ganduje village of Dawakin Tofa local government area in 1949, attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he graduated with a bachelors in science (education).

He obtained a master's degree in 1979 in applied educational psychology from Bayero University Kano. He later returned to Ahmadu Bello University from 1984 to 1985 for a Master of Public Administration degree.

The governor received his doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan in 1993.

Meanwhile, Musa Saleh-Kwankwaso, the father of the former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been appointed as a kingmaker of the Karaye Emirate Council.

The appointment was announced in a statement on Thursday, November 26, by Haruna Gunduwawa, the spokesperson for the Karaye Emirate Council.

Gunduwawa said Saleh-Kwankwaso who held the traditional title of ‘Makaman Karaye’, will be officially turbaned as a kingmaker among the other four appointees on Friday, November 27.
