How Ekiti Teacher Becomes Nigeria's Best Teacher 2020

Mr. Henry Olaoluwa Asubiojo of Amoye Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, in Ikere local government area of Ekiti state, has won this year's presidential overall best Teacher award was presented with a brand new car, VOICE AIR MEDIA reports.
Asubiojo, who was also Ekiti State Best Teacher (Secondary School category) in 2019.
Asubiojo, was announced as the National Best Teacher in Abuja on Monday, on Monday, October 5 as part of activities marking the 2020 World Teachers’ Day.
Also, Aliyu Alhasan of IPDI, Minna, and St. Joseph CRS school, Iboko Offot, Uyo, emerged first and second runners-up respectively, in the 2020 public school teachers award.
Similarly, Istifanus Caroline, a teacher from ECWA. L. Crawford, Kaltungo, Gombe state, emerged the best private junior school teacher.
Both Olaoluwa and Caroline were presented with brand new cars, in addition to award certificates.
President Muhammadu Buhari while presenting the awards to the outstanding teachers at the event to mark the 2020 World Teachers Day, held at the Eagle Square, Abuja said the move appreciate the beneficiaries for work and excellence.
The 2020 theme of the World Teachers’ Day is Teachers: leading in crisis, reimagining the future.

He said teachers have the power to shape and reshape the lives of young people and help learners to enhance their potentials.
“Only great teachers can produce excellent people and students that will make the future of our country great. A positive or negative influence of a teacher on any child will have an effect on that child. Therefore the federal government is ensuring quality education to access,” he said.
Mr Buhari also said his administration has resolved that quality education of teachers in terms of engagement of continued professional development has to be given priority.
“To address these challenges, my administration has approved the following for teachers and the teaching profession. That in order to attract investment in the teaching profession, the quality of the introduction of bursary award has been restored,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has congratulated Olaoluwa Asubiojo, a teacher at Amoye Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, who emerged the Best Teacher in the country on Monday.
Governor Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, described Asubiojo’s feat as “ highly commendable and heart warming”.
The Governor said he was not surprised at the feat because Asubiojo, had demonstrated the stuff he was made of having emerged the Best Teacher (secondary school category) in Ekiti State, in 2019.
“Excellence, hard work, honesty, honour, integrity are part of the Ekiti values that this administration is restoring in the collective efforts to reposition the state.
“The emergence of Mr. Asubiojo as the Best teacher at the national level further reinforces our belief that excellence would always be recognised and celebrated.” Dr. Fayemi said.
The Governor said his administration would continue to provide enabling environment and platforms for Ekiti sons and daughters to excel in their chosen areas of human endeavours.
Noting that the administration has made huge investments in education, Governor Fayemi said he is happy that the results are showing in the quality of students and teachers in the state’s public schools.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate Mr. Asubiojo, our worthy ambassador, for this remarkable feat. We look forward to more good news of remarkable achievements from our citizens, even as our government continues to provide conducive environment for citizens to exhibit their God- given talents.” The Governor said.
