Two New Deaths Recorded As Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases exceed 58,000
The 213 official COVID-19 infections reported by Nigerian authorities on Friday took the total number of infections in the nation to 58,062 with 49,606 cases discharged and 1,103 deaths reported across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This is according to an update by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday night.
The country also recorded two new deaths as a result of the virus.
Friday’s new cases were reported from 17 states, Lagos with the highest daily figure of 51, on Friday, remains Nigeria’s COVID-19 hotspot.

Plateau (51),
FCT (29),
Rivers (18),
Ondo (12),
Oyo (9),
Osun (8),
Gombe (7),
Ogun (7),
Kaduna (5),
Enugu (4),
Edo (3),
Jigawa (3),
Kano (3),
Benue (1),
Delta (1)
And Sokoto (1).
Earlier on Friday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) warned that the death toll for the virus might hit two million if there is no relentless global action to combat the disease

The novel coronavirus has killed at least 984,068 people worldwide since the outbreak emerged in China last December, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP at 1100 GMT on Friday.
At least 32,298,410 cases of coronavirus have been registered. Of these, at least 22,141,000 are now considered recovered.
