NANCES FROWN AT SAHARA REPORTERS NEWS FOR PASSING FAKE NEWS COMMEND COMMITTEE OF PROVOST,NCCE AND FG ON SAFE REOPENING OF COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN DUE TIME
It is no longer news that covid19 has come to stay and Since March of 2020, all schools had been closed due to the dreaded virus and we must commend the government on the progress so far in curbing the virus.
NANCES is using this avenue to inform the general public to debunk the fake news going round the media alleging a provost of COE warri of building two room of toilet with a whooping sum of 36million by Sahara Reporters, we at the association having understand the project is students project and with all our fact findings and on spot assessment in the college by the leadership of the colleges of education students are saying that the fake news is dead on arrival and we will not further tolerate Sahara Reporters and any other Media Houses that want to tarnish the image of any Provost or College in Nigeria without concrete facts and findings as we are committed to join President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR in fight against corruption in all sectors including education sector.
We want to appreciate National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Committee of Provost on all their efforts for us to have safe reopening of our colleges of education and we urge them to rap up all preparations for the benefit of the students populace because an idle man is a devil workshop.
Colleges Of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) in her conference held on 3rd of September 2020, identify those long time responsibilities of the government which are ignore at the expense of the survival of the COE systems.
Some of these are :
1. The Wanton Neglect of the COE system by some States and the Federal Government.
2.The Infrastructure Question Relative to Needs. Assessment
3. The Need to Review the Establishment Act of FCEs.
4. The stalled Renegotiation of 2010 FGN-COEASU Agreement.
5.The Question of Funding.
Looking at those mentioned requests, they are long time questions which needs urgent response, but the government turn deaf ears to these, which sabotage our education and educational system in Nigeria. Whereas it is endangering the cause of development of the nation.
We are now calling on the Federal Ministry of Education to as a matter of urgency listen to the plead of COEASU to save teachers education in this country because any nation that fail on teachers education is sitting on gun powder.
Finally we are calling on all our students to be law abiding, patients and stay safe as covid19 is real and not living us anytime soon as we are walking round the clock to make sure we have a safe reopening of our campuses.
Thank you and God bless you".
