Gov. Dave Umahi demotes Chief of Staff as cabinet gets reschuffled
Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State has carried out a major cabinet reshuffle in the state following the state Executive Council meeting.
Making the disclosure after the meeting, Sen. Emmanuel Onwe, the state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, said that the appointments are with effect from 1st July 2020.
In the recent appointments, Chief of Staff to Ebonyi State government, Dr Emmanuel Offor Okorie was demoted to the position of Chairman, Ebonyi State Broadcasting Commission (EBBC), according to the Secretary to the state government and coordinating Commissioner, Dr Kenneth Ugbala.
In a statement released by Ugbala on Monday night, he also corroborated Onwe’s disclosure with the claim that all the redeployed cabinets are expected to handover on or before July 1.
He said, “His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. Dr David Nweze Umahi FNSE, FNATE has approved a cabinet reshuffle and redeployment.
“The Commissioner for Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Francis Orji, takes over the Solid Minerals ministry, while the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Moses Ogodo-Ali will head the Ministry of Economic Empowerment,” he said.
The SA on Talent Development, Mrs Jacinta Nworie, will be in charge of Income Tax, SA on Primary Health (Ebonyi North), Dr Chris Achi, takes over Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and SA on Primary Health (Ebonyi South), Chikere Omebe, takes over Training.
“The new committee on IGR is led by the state Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe.
“It includes the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bernard Odoh, and SSA on Welfare and Religious Matters, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali,” he said.
