UNIZIK Students extol VC, lauds CCTV camera installations

The students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has showered encomiums on the Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS as he clocks one year in office.

Amongst the very laudable feats, is the installation of the Close Circuits Television Cameras which the students of the varsity has commended and appraised the development as a great step towards securing the University and uncovering onslaughts that may be targeted at students.

Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS was sworn in on June 4th 2019 as the 6th Substantive Vice Chancellor of the Varsity.

         A 300 level student from the Department of History and International Relations, Ekene Olisa described the VC as an intelligent, honourable and God fearing man. He also said that the VC had put in place tight security within and outside the school premises in order to protect the students.

         Another student from the Department of Agriculture, Udoka Orakwe also said that the VC is a man of high intelligence. He said the Prof. Esimone on assuming office tried to curb the rate of indecent dressing and cultism in the school which has yielded good results thus far. 

He also said that the installation of the CCTV cameras in classrooms will reduce the rate of indulgence of examination malpractice.

  

         Also, an 100 level student of Mass communication, Chioma Ezeagu said the VC had made payment of dues easier by adding it up with the school fees. 

         Other students from various departments of the varsity also assessed the performance of the Vice Chancellor in his one year in office, which is a general consensus of an outstanding one year.

They prayed for God's grace and enablement on behalf of the Vice Chancellor to do more.  

 The students also wished him a happy one year anniversary and also encouraged him to do more for the University; as it would make UNIZIK outstanding amongst other universities in the world.

Recall upon assumption of office, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS relayed his vision for the varsity which is dubbed #Project200. Project200 is a vision to make UNIZIK rank amongst the first 200 University in the world.

The University’s webometrics ranking has moved from 4047th in the world and 137th in Africa at the inception of his Administration to currently 3803rd in the world, 71st in Africa and 21st in Nigeria.
