Mosques will not opened in Lagos - Chief Imam discloses

Lagos Chief Imam, Sheikh Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla, has instructed all mosque in the state to remain closed.

If you recall, the Lagos State Government has permitted worship centres to re-open from June 19.

However, the position of the Imam on the Muslim community, is the complete closure of all mosques in the State.

Aboh-Nolla argued that since there was an increase in the index cases of the covid-19 virus, he sees no reason for the re-opening of religious centers.

“The mosque should still be closed because the number of index cases is still on the rise. They should not open Mosques for now”.

“The government should not rush to open religious centres since the reason for their closure has not been defeated,” Sheikh Abou-Nolla said.

There have been outcry before now for the re-opening of religious center by Nigerians. However, strict rules would be put in place when they open.
