I want to play in EPL – Simon
Nantes’ winger, Moses Simon, says he won’t give up on his dream to play in the English Premier League despite coming close to joining Brighton two years ago.
The Nigeria international has just finished an excellent season with the French Ligue 1 side, where he is on loan from La Liga side Levante.
Simon was voted the club’s player-of-the-season by supporters following an impressive season where he scored nine goals and eight assists from 30 appearances.
The 24-year-old was linked with a move to Newcastle United, Liverpool and Brighton but was reportedly close to sealing a deal with The Seagulls but he opted to join Levante instead.
The winger, in an interview with Tribalfootball.com, opened up on his failed move to the EPL.
He said, “It was very close, but I’m happy with my football. I will take my career as it comes.
“Yes. I was aware of some clubs seeking to sign me like Brighton showing strong interest with their package to sign me, but the deal did not see the light of the day. I don’t want to go into details about what happened.”
On the back of his impressive campaign in France, Nantes are keen on keeping Simon for at least another season, but the player has refused to shut the door on a move to the EPL.
“I have a strong desire to play in the EPL,” he added. “This is my dream, but things happen in football and I believe everything is for my good. When it is time, it is time. I believe in destiny.
“Talking about offers from other Premier League clubs, I think my manager is in the best position to handle the business of transfer or offers that come to my table. Mine is to play football and I leave my manager to handle that aspect for me.
