Boko Haram terrorists operated for 6 hours, killed 81 persons, several others injured and missing

Residents of Faduma Kolomdi village in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, have explained the terror they faced at the hands of Boko Haram terrorists during the recent attack that claimed the life of 81 persons, leaving others injured as well.

A survivor, name withheld, explained to the governor of the state, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, during his condolence greeting to the affected people that 81 residents were killed during the attack on Tuesday with 13 persons injured and seven others, including village head were abducted.

The Governor, while sympathizing with the residents urged the Military to brace up to the challenge at hand in order to put an end to the recurrent attacks of the terrorists in the state.

The Governor, while leaving, evacuated five injured persons to an undisclosed hospital in order to receive treatment.

“Last year, about the same number of people were killed in Gajiram like it happened again. This is barbaric. It is very unfortunate. The only solution to end this massacre is by dislodging the insurgents in the shores of Lake Chad. Doing so, will require collaborative regional efforts,” Zulum said.

A man that was described as the only survivor of the attack explained that the terrorists arrived at the village at around 10am and left the place around 4pm.

According to him, the terrorists arrived in disguise as preachers and preached to them to surrender their arms, which some villagers did.

He explained that after the villagers had surrendered their arms, they opened fore on the residents, not sparing women and children in the process.

“We have been burying people since 10:00pm to about 6am. We have buried 49 corpses here while another 32 corpses were taken away by families from the villages around us. The insurgents abducted seven persons including our village head. They went away with 400 cattle,” he added.
