APC Crisis: Outcome of the meeting between Buhari and the APC Governors on Monday
Following the recent crisis that has been rocking the All Progressive Congress (APC), the APC governors and President Muhammadu Buhari met on Monday.
The meeting, which held in the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is as a result of finding solutions to the internal crisis that has been rocking the party recently.
In attendance were Chairman, Progressive Governors Forum and the Kebbi Governor, Atiku Bagudu; Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, as well as the Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru.
Speaking to the State House correspondents after the meeting with the President, the Kebbi State Governor, Bagudu, explained that the governors met with the President to explain the position of the APC governors to him.
The meeting, according to him, is to discuss party issues as well as steps and measures that can be taken to unify the whole party during the time of crisis.
He explained further that President Muhammadu Buhari listened to them and gave them the impression that a resolution of contentious issues will soon be arrived at.
When asked if President Muhammadu Buhari would hold a meeting with the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party, Bagudu disclosed that the President is being democratic.
He said, “Mr President has shown that he is a democrat, he is not running the party. Yes, he is the party leader, he allows party organs to do and decide what should be done.
“The party is never a perfect assembly. There will always be issues and that is why we talk, but yes certainly, organs of the party need to meet Mr President”.
