The COVID-19 antecedents: Nigeria acted so slow, now this is where we are  - Mr. Nigeria

The first confirmed case of the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 in Nigeria was announced on 27 February 2020, when an Italian citizen in Lagos tested positive for the virus, caused by SARS-CoV-2.

From when the first case was confirmed to when the Federal Government and other State Governments started taking proactive steps were too long.

Maybe, we thought it's one of those things that will go the way it came.

Now look at where we are, as at 1st May, 2020, Nigeria confirmed 234 cases of COVID-19 just in a single day.

Federal government announced the closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools on March 27

On 18 March, the management of the National Youth Service Corps suspended the 2020 Batch A stream one 21 days orientation exercise indefinitely. The orientation exercise commenced on 10 March and was expected to end on 30 March, before it was suspended after just 8 days. Later the same day, Nigeria placed a travel ban on 13 countries with high cases of the virus, the countries are; United States, United Kingdom, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, China, Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Japan and Iran.

On 20 March, Nigeria extended their travel ban to two more countries, Sweden and Austria.

On 13 April, federal government extended the lockdown of Lagos State, Ogun State and the FCT, for another two weeks from 11pm on 13 April.

That means d first lockdown was announced about a month and 4 days after the index case of the italian man.

I remember very well when we were shouting for the FG to close our borders but they refuted.

So in conclusion  Coronavirus has come to stay ...

If you observe that's what the Government aim at doing ....

Gradually learning to live with the virus ...

So things have to begin to open gradually .....
Little by little

There are other ways we can contain the virus.

If we strictly adhere to all precautionary guidelines as stipulated by the NCDC, federal ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, then I think we will win the war against COVID-19.

Don't forget crime rate is increasing bcs of no livelihood..

People's business have been shut down for over a month

And the small scale businesses are important.

This too shall pass

I regret to inform you that some businesses and Organizations have already started laying of workers because of the economic pressure of COVID-19.

But this too shall pass!
