How Prisons Official tests Positive for COVID-19 in Ondo, total cases hit 25

Ondo state has recorded another fresh case of Coronavirus, VOICEAIRMEDIA reports.


According to a report, in a verified twitter handle of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) also put the total number of COVID-19 cases in Ondo state to 25.










Similarly, an official of the Nigerian Correctional Services (formerly Prisons) who is a resident at Ijoka road in Akure, has also tested positive to COVID-19 and now receiving treatment at the Ondo state Infectious Disease Hospital, Akure.


According to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who spoke with newsmen in Akure on Wednesday, “four more cases have been added, making a total of 24 cases. Among the additional four, only one was a case of interstate importation. It was a case of an individual of northern Nigeria extraction who travelled from Sokoto state to Ondo state.









“The second, third and fourth cases were those of community transmission. While the second case was discovered at Oluwatuyi Quarters, Akure and reported by the Federal Medical Centre Annex, Akure, the third case is an official of the Nigerian Correctional Services who is resident in Ijoka road, Akure.


“His (Prisons official) case was reported by the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Akure complex,” Akeredolu has confirmed.


Meanwhile, Ondo state had recorded two deaths from COVID-19 pandemic and 19 recovered.
