Exclusive: Ondo, Osun record fresh Cases as COVID-19 cases hit 60, Fatalities 5 (Active Cases Here)

Osun State has confirmed three additional cases of the novel Coronavirus, while Ondo state has recorded two fresh cases, VAM News reports.


The Osun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu announced in a statement on Wednesday.









Isamotu disclosed that the three new patients are contacts of previously confirmed cases in the State.


He added that the new cases had increased the tally of active cases in the State to seven.


“Samples of the new cases were taken during the contact tracing we embarked upon and sent for confirmation test at the NCDC accredited testing centre in Ede. The results of their samples came back positive this afternoon.


“The detection of the three cases brings to seven the number of active COVID-19 cases we have in Osun, as at 13 May, 2020. The three new cases have been admitted at our Isolation and treatment centre,” he added.


Also, Ondo state today has recorded another two fresh cases, total 18th of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, VAM News reports.








The details of the two new cases are still unknown as at the time of this filing this report, but the commissioner for health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro who confirmed the report, explained that the patients were from Lagos and Sokoto states.


Meanwhile l, the state Commissioner for information, Donald Ojogo had yesterday confirmed the treatment and discharging of five more COVID-19 patients.








According to Ojogo, the treated and discharged patients of the dreaded virus have become eleven.


Against this backdrop, only six active cases are currently being monitored in accordance with prescribed globally-accepted protocols at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Akure, the state capital.








30 recovered, 5 on admission, 4 deaths, 3 Fresh cases, total 42 cases confirmed in Osun state whereas, 11 recovered, 4 on admission and 1 death, 2 Fresh cases, total 18 cases recorded in Ondo state.
