People Could be Dying of Hunger Not Coronavirus - Mr. Tanko

The National Chairman and 2019 Presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) has stated that people could be dying of Hunger and not coronavirus.

The Statesman while in a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, urged the Federal Government to critically look into the matter; and review the structure in which palliative measures are being distributed.

The restriction of movement and sit-at-home order is a swift measure to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic across the Nation; but the Federal Government should also take note that many of her citizens work daily in order to survive and put food on their table.

So when you tell them to sit-at-home, you should also provide proficient palliative measures (including cash and food items) to cushion the terrible effect this may have on them.

Recall that the FG announced sharing a certain amount of money to several household across the country; which many of the citizens have kicked against and considered as falsehood, because many persons never got any assistance of any kind from the FG.

Mr. Tanko said, "we have a problem of incoherent curfew and lock down from state to state without a general lockdown, which makes it difficult to take care of index in the country and control those coming from outside the country."

"It is of utmost importance that we centralize our action just like Saudi Arabia, etc, which makes it easier for proper control.

This must be done now to control the rising number of affected people.

We cannot continue to play with the lives of people especially the poor amongst us; for those who are still scamming the Nation, stop before Almighty Allah catch up with you."
