EU’s N21bn donation: ADC charges FG on accountability, transparency
THE African Democratic Party on Sunday urged the Federal Government to ensure the judicious use of the €50m (N21bn) donated to Nigeria by the European Union.
The Head, European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb. Ketil Karlsen, had said the donation was largely meant for the poor.
However, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Yemi Kolapo, said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), must ensure the judicious and transparent use of the funds.
Kolapo said, “The Federal Government should make sure that the money goes to the most vulnerable people. They must make sure that the money goes to all geopolitical zones of the federation.
“It should reach all the people the money is meant for. The government should have people who can think outside the box and make sure that they get good strategies to ensure that the money reaches the target people.
“They must also ensure transparency and accountability in the disbursement of the money.”
