Despite lockdown Police Intercept Car Transporting Suspected Coronavirus Corpse In Osun

Osun state Police Command, Sunday evening, intercepted a car suspected to be conveying COVID-19 corpse.




A source told Blueprint Correspondent that the car was intercepted by the police at Odo-Oba border point, along Ibadan road, Iwo, around 6.30pm.


It was gathered that the officials manning roads to enforce the state government lockdown order intercepted the car at a check point.


The Mazda 323 car with registration number KFS 409 EH (Ash Colour) was said to be coming from Ibadan, Oyo state.

It was gathered that the driver of the car, Ismaila Ademola, drove the corpse from Texaco area, Ibadan.

Though, number of those in the company of the corpse could not be ascertained, the source said he was not sure if any other person followed the corpse.


He explained that the medical team who suspected that the corpse identified as Yusuf Ishola died of Coronavirus, escorted the vehicle back to Iyana Offa, Oyo state, in the company of a local government Chairman.


It was gathered that the corpse has been handed over to policemen at Iyana Offa Division, Oyo state.


The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incidence, assuring that there is no cause for alarm.
