Anambra commences total lockdown over coronavirus index case
The Anambra State Police Command has warned that it has commenced full compliance with state government directive on total lockdown and would not compromise on their duties.
In a statement issued by the command and signed by the public relations officer Mohammed Haruna, the command reminded the general public that the directive was in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The statement added: “In view of this, the public are kindly requested to stay at home. No movement, no local transportation.
“The index case has been in the State since march 28th and has socialized extensively.
“This extreme restriction became necessary in order to identify and isolate primary and secondary contacts as well as ensure no further spread as the contact tracing is ongoing”.
It warned that Police and all security Agencies in the State are geared to enforce the order to the letter in observance of overriding public health interest.
The police also offered the public some emergency phone numbers to report observed breaches of the lockdown order or other security needs.
