Alleged Placenta on Church Altar: Witness tenders evidence against Pastor Don at Ondo Court
Ten new count charges have been levelled against a Don at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko and a Clergyman before an Ondo state High Court sitting in Akure.
The Don, Prof Lanre Olu-Adeyemi who is standing trial on five (5) count charges of conspiracy, publication of false news, Aiding Publication of false news and aiding impersonation.
On the other hand, one Pastor John Abiodun is facing eight Count charge of conspiracy, publication of false news, Perjury, Impersonation and threatening violence amongst other.
The suit obtained by Sunshinetruth, was informed by alleged planting of baby placenta on the altar of PromisedLand Prophetic Ministries located along Akure-Owo expressway, Akure; an allegation the authorities of the church insisted it was a false news and an attempt to tarnish the image of the church.
The application dated 23 April, 2020 for the new count charges was filed by the prosecuting counsel, Kayode Dare before Justice Bode Adegbehinge and it was not opposed by defence counsels, Emmanuel Emodamori and Adelanke Akinrata.
According to reports obtained, the two defendants were charged for alleged to have conspired together to publish life threatening, rumours, false and inciting stories about Ajidahun Emmanuel Jeminiyi and Pastor Gbenga Akinbiyi on various social media platforms including Divine Revelation and Christ Apostolic Church Youth WhatsApp platforms.
The trial proceeded with nine listed witnesses for the prosecution of the case before the court of Law, as only one of them, Emmanuel Ajidahun Jeminiyi was called to give his evidence before the court that lasted almost several hours, ranging from Whatsapp messages, serial calls, and social media posts and SMS from the two defendants to prove the allegations.
In their cross-examination of the witness, the counsels to the two defendants, Barristers Adelanke Akinrata and Emmanuel Emodamori questioned the veracity of various evidence tendered by Ajidahun but the witness maintained his position to substantiate the charges preferred against the defendants.
While one of the prosecuting counsels, Barrister Tunji Osho informed the court of a case of armed robbery attack one of the learned colleague somewhere in River state, that needs urgent assistance from fellow colleagues.
And the case was adjourned by Justice Bode Adegbehingbe till ,14th, 25th, 27th, 28th May and 3rd & 8th June 2020 for further hearing when eight other witnesses are expected to appear before the court to give evidence, as the Judge sympathised with the victim lawyer.
