Ondo LG poll: SDP condemns kidnap attempt on chairmanship Candidate

…Urges ODIEC, Police, Traditional rulers and Leaders to swing into action

THE Social Democratic Party, SDP, has condemned the alleged attempt kidnap on its Idanre local government candidate, Bankole Akinselure and the attack of innocent Idanre citizen on Monday evening by APC political thugs.

The party in a statement said the attack shows that the All Progressives Congress and Chairmanship Candidate of the party have become jittery over Bankyposal candidacy’s soaring popularity across the local government which signals “an impending inevitable electoral defeat for the APC at the April election.”

The statement read, "the attack was lunched this evening by the APC thugs led by the APC Idale lemikan ward councillorship candidate in person of Mr  Betiku Akinwale a.k.a 10-10 in my visit to the SDP ward meeting. Him and his men came fully armed to disrupt our meeting and destroyed the canopy, broke the chairs, beat our members and as well threatening to kidnap myself and my vice Chairman."

The APC thugs attempt to kidnap our flagbearer but failed, flogged and scattered everybody with cutlass and guns.

“The SDP however cautions the APC to note that there is a limit to what the people of Idanre local government, who have made up their minds to vote in Bankole as their next chairman, can stomach, particularly at this critical time.

“The SDP states that resorting to violence cannot help the APC in this election. This is so because Idanre LG is home to SDP and the people have made up their minds to replace APC government with Akinselure Bankole on April 18, and nothing can change that resolve.

“Our party therefore calls on the ODIEC, Police, traditional ruler(Kabiesi) and the leaders of the community to guarantee adequate security ahead of the election and ensure that the APC does not in any way, achieve its aim of disrupting the electoral process, knowing that it will be defeated.”
