A day- Old baby has been reportedly abandoned Near Hostel by unknown student In Amuyo Area, VAM News reports.

Dumped baby in carton

According to reports obtained, the Police recovered a day old baby abandoned in carton along Amuyo road, Offa, Kwara state.

According to the report, the mother allegedly dumped the baby in a carton at a bus stop in the area when the residents who consequently put an emergency call to the kwara police state command for promptly action.

Arriving at the scene, the Owode Police team division immediately evacuated the baby and was given first aids treatment and taken to Offa General Hospital immediately.

A source from the Offa General Hospital said the baby is now in satisfactory condition at the hospital.

While VAM News correspondent speaking with some resident of the area, "We want to find out who left the kid there and why. And then certainly if the mother needs help then we'll do whatever we can do to help her."

"Right now it's also a criminal case."

As authorities search for the baby's mother, describing it as inhumane, and the baby will be handed over to Social Welfare Department of the state ministry of women affairs and social Development for proper care.

Another resident adding that female student of the Federal Polytechnic in Offa should be examined to know the perpetrator of such action.
