Welfare of Nurses: Odubu hails Delta State government

Nurses in Delta State have been urged to put in their best to service in creating a culture of healthy living in Delta State in order to reduce health disparities and enhance the health and wellbeing of Deltans.

The Chief Nursing Officer, HMB Board, Delta State, Mrs A.I. Odubu, made the call on Sunday in Kwale, at the State Nurses 4th Annual Thanksgiving ceremony.

Mrs. Odubu noted that nurses must realise their pivotal roles to awesome healthcare delivery in the State, the Nation and  must always put in their best to the services to their patients. While appreciating the Nurses for their sacrifices and commitment to Nursing Profession, she said that their sacrifices is not in vain, adding that it will be rewarded by God and God through man.

The number one Nurse in the State, Mrs. Odubu hailed Delta State Government for prioritising the State's health sector and the welfare of nurses in Delta State and expressed thanks to God Almighty for the success of the fourth annual thanksgiving ceremony of Delta State Nurses. 

The Chairman of the event, Director of Hospital Services, Delta State (DHS), Dr. Mrs. F. Omoraka who was ably represented in the event by Dr. Abanum (Zonal Medical Director, Kwale Medical Zone), speaking while appreciating Nurses in the State, noted that most of the health policies of the State Government would not be successful without the diligence of Nurses.

 

Assures Nurses that more of their colleagues will be engaged across the State to enhance efficiency and the State Government shall practically implement the minimum wage, he said.

The Chairman, Delta State Chapter of National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Comr. Jegede Alice, in her address urged Nurses to always note the importance of the annual thanksgiving ceremony, stressing that it's a medium of uniting and familiarising with Nurses in the State, especially the Heads of Administration. She urged Nurses to always give their best to service in order to leave a good legacy at retirement.

Jegede Alice appealed to Nurses in the State to always remember the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in their prayers for the advancement of the health sector.

While stating that without the Nurses and Midwives, the health sector would achieve little. Mrs. Mabel Ugbanaka (Director of Nursing Services, Delta State) reiterated the resolve of the leadership of Delta State Nurses to always priotise the wellbeing of the Nurses.
