Kogi Governorship Election- Kogi East/West urged to support central for second term
An appeal has gone to the people of the east and west senatorial districts of the state to allow Kogi Central complete its’ term of eight years as governor of the state, by supporting governor Yahaya Bello’s second term bid.
This appeal was contained in a press statement issued last week in Okene by Prince Mahmoud Sani Atta.
Prince Mahmoud Sani Atta who is the heir apparent to the stool of Atta Omadivi Abonika III of Okene, said that since the eastern senatorial district of the state produced three elected governors in the past, covering a total period of twenty years, it will be logical and fair to support Kogi Central for another term of four years.
To justify his appeal, the heir apparent noted that governor Yahaya Bello has performed well in the area of peace/security, Education, Agriculture, portable water supply, construction of roads, cleansing of the Civil Service and equitable distribution of appointments and infrastructures across the state.
While noting that in recent time, the media has unfairly assessed the performance of Governor Yahaya Bello by basing their judgment on the issue of outstanding salary arrears only, without due reference to other areas where the governor has achieved, called on the media, especially the social media to be fair in their judgment.
Speaking on the issue of outstanding salaries to the state workers, Prince Mahmoud expressed optimism that from what the governor’s spokesperson has said, outstanding salary arrears will be cleared soonest.
He however commended the patience and understanding of the Civil Servants in the state.
Prince Mahmoud then called on the people of Kogi Central, especially the traditional rulers, stakeholders and opinion molders to join hands to support governor Bello’s second term bid, warning that, “if this opportunity is allowed to slip away, the area will be thrown backwards politically”.
He then seized the opportunity to pledge his full support to Governor Yahaya Bello’s second term bid.
Signed:
Prince Mahmood Sani Atta
