Ekiti PDP crisis: Chairman, Former Gov Fayose’s loyalist exchange blame
By Rasaq Ibrahim, Ado Ekiti
The crack within the Ekiti State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday widened as the party’s chairman, Barr. Gboyega Oguntuase and the legal adviser, Sunday Olowolafe threw brick bats over the party’s affairs.
The party is currently in crisis in the state.
It appears that Oguntuase and nine other members of the SWC are in Olujimi’s camp while only Olowolafe belongs to Fayose’s faction.
Olowolafe accused Oguntuase of running the party like his private fiefdom and perpetrating acts injurious to the survival of PDP in the state.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the party’s legal adviser said the alleged dictatorial tendencies exhibited by Oguntuase might sinks the party and also affect the fortune of the party in the future elections.
Countering his allegation, the PDP Chairman said the legal adviser was only doing the bidding of his paymaster, Ayodele Fayose.
Olowolafe urged the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately intervene before the Chairman tore the fabric of the party into shreds and make it unable to win future elections.
Olowolafe said, “ I once again call on all PDP faithful particularly the National working Committee to call the PDP Chairman in Ekiti State to order before he finally sinks the ship of the party whilst nearer to its harbor.
“Rather than bridging the gap to allow for all inclusive participation in party activities, strategically administer the party in more sensitive way that will lead to success in future elections even after the current tenure ends, he prefers holding nocturnal and sectional meetings resulting back lift of the party progress.
