Today's Leaders Forum Praise 2019: ELECTION OR SELECTION IN NIGERIA - Adebimpe AbdulMaleek kolade
In Today's Leaders Forum praise 2019 presentation to mark this year anniversary, VAM News reports.
Interviewee: The last election in the country was accompanied with mixed feelings and a lot of controversies. I will be here to share my views and observations. Let's make it an interactive session.
I am here to discuss and answer questions related to the last election. My network isn't coming up
Interviewer: PRAISE 2019!
What can you say about the theme ❓
Interviewer: ELECTION OR SELECTION IN NIGERIA ❓
Interviewee: As always, TLF has been consistent with themes of its respective presentations. This is another mind blowing one. Kudos to presenters so far.
Interviewer: NIGERIANS ARE PRAYER WARRIORS, WHAT DO WE NEED NOW ❓
Interviewee: We need to act and pray at the same time. We tend to rely more on prayers and relent in hardwork
Its election and selection at the same time.
We chose our candidates from aspirants and put them in power by election Part delegate result only matters in party primary.
Collation officers result should be the same as inec in a sane environment. But we now have online national electoral commission.
Which is saddled with the responsibilities is sharing cooled and unverifiable result.
Interviewer: NIGERIA ELECTION WITH 3 DIFFERENT RESULTS.
Party delegates result
Collation officers result
Official INEC result.
Your take ❓
Interviewee: Declaration of an election winner.
Governorship election as a case study.
A candidate leads d other with few figures not up to 500, but there's a case of cancelation of results in some areas which is higher than the lead of the contestant A.
Interviewer: IS SIMPLE MAJORITY DECLARATION THE BEST MEDIUM OR RE-RUN IN THE AFFECTED AREAS❓
Interviewee: Yes
We can start by taking close monitoring of our ballots and securing them. We should always verify all information as regards result so as to avoid false alarm
Interviewer: Hmmmm.
Interviewer: Any reasonable solution to this ❓
Interviewee: The electoral body has a preference for every case as regards cancellation.
I think we should first understand the rules that bound inec to a rerun
73 political parties contested in the 2019 presidential elections.
Interviewer: ANY NEED TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF PARTIES BASED ON LOGISTICS AND REVENUES ❓
Interviewer: One of my opinions on the process of choosing the right political leader, is checking of their family background. YOUR TAKE SIR ❓
Interviewee: To be realistic, I followed keenly the submissions of JOB here yesterday. With the current situation, less than 10political parties have elected officers. There is need to crash those get together parties into just a formidable force.
This may not be so fair on capable hands. A Yoruba adage says a white pap came from a black pot It is a reality.
Interviewer: The rule of LAW on election issues.
A JOKE OR REALITY❓
ZAMFARA AND BAYELSA AS A CASE STUDY
Dismissal of election petitions based on technicalities..
YOUR TAKE ❓❓
Interviewee: Every law officer should perfect their assignment .they shouldn't give room for irregularities
CJN chairing /appointing chair of an appeal judgment panel.
Interviewer: CONSTITUTIONALLY RIGHT OR SELF INTEREST ❓❓❓
Interviewee: Its within his constitutional responsibilities.
Electoral malpractices where the total number of votes recorded for a winner/the lost Party(ies)
doubles the number of registered and accredited voters.
Interviewer: DOES OUR VOTE REALLY COUNTS❓
Interviewee: Since Democracy came into practise.
The Only election I heard and knew of was 2015 presidential election without TRIBUNAL & APPEAL.
Interviewer: SPIRIT OF SPORTSMANSHIP AFTER AN ELECTION, DO YOU THINK IT COULD COME TO STAY❓❓❓
Interviewee: A place where stuffs like this are recorded should be canceled. But nonetheless, votes still count.
Yes it will.
It was done and it will be done again. Its highly sustainable.
Interviewer: Aftermath of 2019 general elections, REPS were sacked, SENATORS sent packing, GOVERNORS in the balance , house of assembly members trembling.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MAJOR CAUSE OF THIS AND THE BEST MEDIUM TO AVERT SUCH RE-OCCURENCE IN FUTURE❓❓
Interviewee: The current majority of Nigerian youth still need political education. Most of them don't even know what they want from government
Interviewer: KOGI 2019,
WHAT CAN YOU SAY❓❓❓
Interviewee: I have to stop analyzing politics in my community because some youths are lost already.
Firstly they believe once you don't reason with them, you wine and dine with current administration or go against them.
Even with jokes, some will insult and rain curses as if I decided for them and they all collected peanut.
Enemies among youths is politically motivated, killings and the likes has join...
What happened in kogi was against every definition of election.
The political class are having fights and not competition
Finally, senator Dino Melaye is back to the streets of ABUJA...
Interviewer: WHAT DO YOU THINK WAS THE MAJOR FACTOR THAT LED TO HIS SUDDEN DEFEAT❓
Interviewee: I welcome my favourite dino to the street.he was careless and reckless at the same time with the opportunity he got.
Interviewer: After the citizens gave them power under the scorching sun with hunger and stress.
There comes a social media and hate speech bill as a reward.
YOUR TAKE❓❓❓
Interviewee: The hate speech bill is good if done without political mindset.
The death penalty is a big joke. The citizen needs to be enlightened or briefed on the bill.
Interviewer: DON'T YOU THINK CURRENT ADMINISTRATION FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IS PARTIAL AND BIAS ❓
But with the look of things, DO YOU THINK THE BILL WILL PASS FINAL READING AND BECOME A LAW❓
Interviewee: I didn't see any yet
You mean to say selective?
I don't think it will go beyond the second reading. Considering the contoversies.
Interviewer: Yes
Interviewee: But I understand, there are few member of the ruling party being charged too
Most developing countries borrow for infrastructure. Abacha loot is shared across the 3 tiers of government.
We should be concerned on how the money being borrowed is spent.
General Sanni Abacha kept sending funds from the grave, yet the country keeps borrowing.
Interviewer: YOUR SUBMISSION ❓
E - VOTING! YOUR TAKE ❓
The solution isn't near, until we change the total electoral system.
Rigging is gaining ground with higher velocity in Nigeria elections.
Interviewer: How can we curb it?
Interviewee: When does a person has electoral value?
It cannot stand in Nigeria. The real determinants of election results are illiterates.
E-voting cannot stand in Nigeria for now
When you get your PVC and perform your civic responsibility
Formal education should not be the basis for measuring intelligence and capabilities. We should see beyond qualifications But even the profs display during collation of result, who will handle election effectively in Nigeria ?
My question:
1. How can citizens be honest to criticize the government?
2. To what extent do you understand the concept of hate speech bill and social media bill ?
Kindly give your sincere advice to youths.
Our expectation from government is high and its not coming, youths are wasting with potentials When we have individual integrity. We all need to clean ourselves
We ain't wasting
We just have not been noticed yet. Whatever you kno how to do,please do it well and don't stop doing it
Interviewer: Lastly on my side...whom responsibility is democracy ❓
Interviewee: All of us.
