Justice Olagbegi tasks Ondo govt to Return Aquinas College to mission owners (See Why)

...To restore quality education 

Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi, the National President, Aquinas College, Akure Old Students Association, ACAOSA has called on the Ondo State Government to return their alma mater to the Catholic Mission in order to restore the College to its pre- eminent position of academic excellence, sporting acclaim and moral up rightness.

He made the call at the presentation to the College of Sport wears – jerseys, t- shirts, shorts, soccer boots, spike shoes and various Sporting equipments valued at thousands of naira donated to the College by the Old Students Association of the College, VAM News gathered.



Justice Olateru-Olagbegi, at the presentation that was graced by the Principal of the College, Pastor Ayibiowu, Prof. Asagba, several officers and members of ACAOSA, and a large number  of students stated that handing the College back to the mission is the surest way to restore it to its reputed preeminent position as a centre of learning for the breeding of future leaders famed for academic excellence, sporting acclaim and integrity.


He, therefore, urged the Ondo State Government to follow the examples of Lagos, Anambra and Ekiti States which have returned Schools in their States to their respective original Mission owners.


The event took place at the Henry Ogiri Hall of the College which was also donated by the Association.

Hon. Justice Olateru-Olagbegi also recounted previous donations of the Association to the College including the construction of the N60 million naira hall, the refurbished Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories costing N15 million as well as the refurbishing of several dilapidated classrooms at great expense.


He stated that the Association was motivated in doing these things by a patriotic desire to provide the present generation of students with an enabling environment for learning and scholarship similar to what the old students had in their own days.


He recalled that the College has produced three National Merit Award Winners as well as notable Professionals in all disciplines, stressing that the way forward for the College and other schools in the country was for them to be returned to their original owners, the missions.
