BACKGROUND INFORMATION: About Youth Advancement Initiative

Youth Advancement Initiative is a Youth-led, Youth-driven initiative founded by key Intellectuals to awaking the Consciousness of young people towards taking their destinies into their hands politically, economically and socially in Nigeria.

Presently we have member across the 36 states including FCT.

The group was formed in 2017.

VISION:

To create a society in which an informed and active citizenry (youth) is sovereign and makes policy decisions based on the will of the majority.

MISSION:

To build democracy through activism, education, empowerment and collaborations.

WATCH-WORD:

we are not thugs. We are responsible youths. We will not fight with the government or go against the constitution. But we will make our voices heard in a constructive and mature way through dialogue if need be.

CODE OF CONDUCT:

1. Ensure the integrity of the group

2. Criminal or divisive activities are totally prohibited

3. Ensure no intervention of any political party or politician or lured by money to influence our goal

4. Ensure funds are not single handedly donated by one individual to run the group

OBJECTIVES:

1. Increase and support youth participation in political activities, governance process and sustenance of democracy

2. Identity, mobilize, organize, engage and position our youth to be economically empowered

3. Promote and advocate for social inclussion, social justice and peace building

4. Foster linkage and partnership with key stake holders

TARGET GROUP:

The target of this movement is focussing on the age grade between 18 to 35 years. Also, Honorary membership will be given to those between the age of 36 to 55. We welcome all members and oppose discrimination base on race, ethnicity, religion, physical disability and sex.

WHAT is YOUTH ADVANCEMENT INITIATIVE ?

📝YOUTH ADVANCEMENT INITIATIVE (YAI) represents the growing agitation of youths for liberty.

What is liberty?

Liberty is the ability to have control over your destiny.

Politics is a medium through the collective destiny of a people is managed.

For too long we have allowed aliens who called themselves elder statesmen to control our destiny as youths.

They have been in power since the inception of the republic, they have grown old and sickly, yet they refuse to step down

They destroy our schools and send their own children to school abroad so that their children can come and continue to rule over us!

•Enough is enough!

I call them aliens because most of these people were born when there was no Nigeria.

They were born in the southern and northern protectorates.

And they continued to rule over us.

•We don't want rulers anymore. We want leaders!

We want we ourselves, the so-called leaders of tomorrow to lead us....because tomorrow had started since yesterday, but they told us it was eclipse of the moon!

•What is Youth Advancement Initiative?

YAI is the medium through which we will obtain the change.

•We will train ourselves in leadership.

We will empower ourselves economically.

We will empower ourselves and possess the technologies those aliens don't have.

We will organise ourselves and become a force to reckon with.

We will participate, vote and be voted for.

We will change the landscape called Nigeria.

Get ready. The movement has started.
