8 children abducted in Kano in 2014, rescued in 'Anambra' Today

The Kano State Police Command have rescued 8 children abducted in the state in 2014, following the arrest of members of a gang that specializes in child trafficking.


A breakthrough in the investigation came after one of the suspects, Paul Owne, kidnapped one Harlan Sagir Bako who he attempted to transport to Anambra state where he will be sold.

Commenting on the arrest, the state's commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu said Bako was abducted on September 11, 2019, on his way home from Islamiyya School at Yankaba quarters.


He said, ‘’The command’s tactical team of Operation Puff Adder attached to the anti-kidnapping squad was detailed for discreet investigation in the course of which the suspects were arrested. .


They confessed to have conspired among themselves and abducted various children from areas like Sauna, Kwanar Jaba, Kawo, Hotoro Yankaba and Dakata quarters all within the Kano metropolis.’’


The arrested suspects have been identified as; 
Paul Owne, 38 (male) and 
Mercy Paul, 38 (female), both of Dakata Quarters, Kano State.

While their Onitsha-based accomplices were;
Emmanuel Igwe, 34 (male),
Ebere Ogbodo, 45 (male),
Monica Orachaa, 50 (female),
Louisa Duru, 45 (female) operated in Imo State as a buyer cum and seller.


The kids who have been reunited with their family were identified as; 
Umar Faruq Ibrahim, 10 (male); renamed as Onyedika Ogbodo; 
Aisha Moh'd Abdullahi, 9 (female), renamed as Ozioma Ogbodo; 
Usman Mohammed, 5, (male); 
Amira Auwalu, 4 (female) and 
Husna Salisu, 4 (female), 
Blessing Ogbodo, 10 (female); 
Chiazozie Ogbodo, 11 (male); renamed as Chiemerie Ogbodo, 6 (male).
