Three men, who used a toy gun to rob motorists plying the Odogbolu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State have been arrested by men of the state police command.
The suspects, Johnson Afokolu, Victor Michael and Jacob Usang, were arrested around 6am on Saturday while allegedly terrorising motorists on the road.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated these on Sunday.
Oyeyemi said policemen attached to the Odogbolu Division, who were on patrol of the highway, sighted the suspects and waited in ambush for them.
According to him, on seeing the policemen, the three of them took to their heels but were pursued and apprehended.
He stated, “On interrogation, they confessed to being responsible for most of the robbery cases in the area and that other members of their gang always joined them for special operations.
“Recovered from them were a toy gun, six torch lights, military fez cap, dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, knife, assorted clothes and three different types of handsets.”
The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special-Anti Robbery Squad for discreet investigation.
