Pep Guardiola becomes first Premier League manager to be shown yellow card
As part of a series of Premier League rule changes, managers can now be shown yellow and red cards for misconduct.
And Pep Guardiola became the first coach of the season to be cautioned by a match official.
Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and David Silva which left the Spanish play-maker down in pain.
The pair had both attempted to play the ball, with Gomez catching Silva’s foot after the Manchester City star got there first.
But Guardiola was convinced Gomez had intentionally kicked out at Silva.
For his protestations, the 48-year-old was booked in the 41st minutes.
Match officials are able to issue cards to anyone occupying the technical area across all levels of English football.
Four yellows to one person across a season will lead to a one-match touchline ban.
