Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Holds 17th Combined Convocation Ceremony

The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti held the 17th Combined Convocation Ceremony on 12th August 2019 at the Sports Complex of the school. The programme commenced by 12:15pm with Dr Oguntuase as the anchor, after the procession and the recitation of the National anthem and school anthem, the opening prayer was done.

Introduction of the invited dignitaries was done by Chief (Dr) Oguntuase, the welcome address was delivered by the chairman of the governing council of FPA, Chief Austin Edieze, he welcomes the invited dignitaries, the graduates, visitors and all the security personnel. He further thanks Ekiti state governor, Chief Afe Babalola among others. He proceeds by mentioning some of the needs of the school which includes flexible road, lecture theatre, class auditorium etc. 

The welcoming speech was made by the Rector, Dr Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye. He said that the total numbers of 16,886 students graduated in Feb 2018. He proceeds by saying the convocation ceremony was the first he would witness as the Rector of the school as he was made the school Rector in February 2018. He thanks all the dignitaries that had contributed in one way or another to the betterment of the school as a whole.

He thanks the academic board and non-academic staff of the School for their mutual cooperation.

He listed the achievements of his administration since his inauguration and some of the achievements are, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti as the best polytechnic in the Western part of Nigeria, accreditation of new discipline among others. He also spelt out some of the challenges that the institution is facing. 

In conclusion, the Rector thank everyone that was present and he wished them journey mercies back to their destinations, he proceeds by mentioning the names of the available dignitaries, Dr Abdullahi Umar Gandoje, the governor of Kano state, Chief Dr Best Man Paul Aneke, fellow of FPA (FFPA), Otunba Femi Ogunleye, Senator Dr Sam, Mr E.O. Adeleye, Mr A.O. Fasakin, Rector of Esa Oke college of technology Osun state, Prof Emmanuel Adebayo, Rector of the college of education Ile-Oluji.

Otunba Femi Ogunleye an alumnus of FPA appreciates the school for the award been presented to him and therefore promise the school that together with his mates, he would always look back subsequently for the development of the school at large, as well as Kwara State Polytechnic and Afe Babalola University.

Chief Bisi Egbeyemi represented His Excellency, John Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti state governor who happened to be the chief host for the convocation, she commends the effort of the Rector so far and then encourages the graduates to be a good ambassador for the polytechnic wherever they go.

Fully induction was done for all the graduates by the governing council of the school as they encourage all graduates to be a great person in their respective fields. The graduates were handed over to the Alumni associated.

The welcoming of the new Alumni set followed immediately by the FPA alumni association president.

Presentation of gifts to the best students both ND and HND for each set in the four schools of FPA, School of Environmental Studies, School of Science and Computer Studies, School of Engineering and School of Business Studies was presented. 

The 2017/2018 Student Union executives of the school presents an award to the Rector of the institution being a substantial Rector and the first Alumni of the school.

Builder Olorunoje, the Deputy Rector of the institution gives the closing prayer at 2:24pm, and everyone recites the National anthem and school anthem was respectively.
