VAM correspondents gathered that the students blocked Damola road to protest the incessant raiding of the EFCC.

They called out the Chairman of EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, to restrain his officers, by asking them to stop further harassment of innocent students, under the guise of being suspected to be involved in cybercrime, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”.

The students claimed that the protest came weeks after the arrest of some students of Ekiti State University by the EFCC.

The protest on Friday leads to the burning of tyres and recitation of Aluta songs.

Addressing the students, the Students’ Union Government President, Alubarika, claimed that they received information that EFCC officials are coming to the school very early on Friday morning.

“We are calling on the authorities of the government to call them to order,” he said.

The Press crew were contacted as regard the protest and our correspondent, PC Carto gathered that the incessant raiding occurred around 3:00pm yesterday at Damola Junction.

It was alleged that EFCC wanted to bombard some students staying around the location because they got the information that some students involved in cybercrime are in the location. But the students got to know their plans and cried out for help because many innocent Nigerian students will be harassed and that lead to a protest where students burn tyres and recite aluta songs.

Directorate of students affairs, the SUG President, addressed Nigerian students to keep calm.

While speaking with the SUG president this morning, Comrade Alubarika he said, ''the students' vehicular movement was restrained for hours but we have been able to remove those blockages and restore peace and order around the school premises."
